The tiny Andantino forms the fourth movement of the Borodiniana orchestral suite. Originally, it was the second movement of an unfinished sextet for strings. The catchy 8-bar tune that serves as the theme is reminiscent of klezmer melodies that wafted from the shtetls of 19th Century Russia. I have orchestrated this movement for a small orchestra, befitting the intimate nature of the musical material.
