Symphony No. 7--Adagio
Written as a premonition of Wagner’s death, Bruckner’s 7th Symphony Adagio explores the darkest colors in Bruckner’s palette. While arranging this for wind band, I realized that some of the massive orchestral textures needed to be simplified. I kept the omissions to a minimum, and like my Bruckner 7 Finale arrangement, it contains the entire movement. My rather quick overall tempo presumes a smaller ensemble in a "dead" acoustic environment. With a larger ensemble and a "live" acoustic, a slower tempo can be sustained.
