The Dance - 3. March of Whimsy (for oboe d'amore and percussion)
The March of Whimsy, a playful pas de deux, introduces the oboe d'amore, and has the instruments' tuning slightly out of kilter, and whilst at the end they may be reconciled to marching in step, the question of pitch is still to be resolved.
NB The oboe d'amore should as far as possible play a quarter tone flat, especially during marimba passages.
