You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices."Demon Crisps" is the second solo classical guitar piece in the Demon Suite, NOT to be confused with any of my other sinister series or suites, that pay tribute to Fiends (not friends) and other horrible beasts of the night and to the marvelous influences, much to many's dismay and chagrin, they have had on my person and my composing.
The excerpt is bar 1-26 of the piece which takes the original germ from "Demon Munch" and transforms it from a 2/4 to a 9/8 rhythmic scheme. The excerpt also takes us through four meters and several tonalities including D minor blues, a bit of B/Dm bitonality, and D Lydian.
Like all the Demons pieces, it is an ode to Classic Metal - of which I listen to or play daily. Dio, Sabbath, Maiden, Priest, Saxon, Ozzy, Van Halen, Dokken, Scorpions - all of them and many more contributed to this outpouring of nastiness.
I used drop-D tuning to make playing 5ths easier (power chords) - a staple of the metal genre. So the piece has D as its tonal center. I employ the flat-5 (G#) often to invoke the minor blues pentatonic and the flat-2/flat-6 (Eb/Bb) to invoke the Phrygian mode - two more staples of the Metal genre. There are also a lot of slides, bends, ghost notes, and muted strums - techniques not often associated with classical guitar. Although it's far more common in modern times. Above all, you ought to play it - because it's fun and it'll upset your mom….
The music creates a similar sinister and haunting aura as in all the other series, however. I sincerely hope that you enjoy this piece as well as the other "Demon" pieces.
