This piece is inspired by french mélodie composers, such as Reinaldo Hahn and Henri Duparc. The idea was to put a spanish poem - in this casi by the uruguayan poet Mario Benedetti - to french music. The poem translation is as follows:
This stream doesn’t come back/
it never stops/
but as it goes on/
slowly makes up a story
it discovers red fishes/
imagines the willows/
invents the birds
and if it doesn’t come back it’s because/
it dreams where it goes/
to go into a river/
and with it to the sea
