The many children who die of starvation around the world (not too make too fine a point about the children currently allegedly dying in the Gaza conflict) gave me the idea for the song in which a starving child calls to its mother for food but after several prevarications it transpires again that all is too late and the child dies. It can be sung by one voice or two, as there is a chorus in which the child asks for bread and verses in which the mother, who has no food promises more tomorrow and so on.
