Humoreske (No. 2 from Five Piano Pieces, Op. 3) by Carl Nielsen (1865–1931) is a spirited and rhythmically playful miniature arranged for wind orchestra by Caroline Savickienė.

Composed in 1890, this movement showcases Nielsen’s early wit and charm through lively rhythms and quick dynamic contrasts. The arrangement preserves the light character of the piano original while expanding its color palette through bright woodwind and brass textures.

Ideal as a cheerful interlude or as part of a complete performance of Nielsen’s Five Piano Pieces, Op. 3.

Duration: approx. 2 minutes Difficulty: Moderate Instrumentation: Picc, 2 Fl, 2 Ob, 3 Cl in B♭, Bass Cl, 2 Bsn, 2 A Sax, T Sax, Bar Sax, 3 Tpt, 4 Hn, 2 Tbn, Bass Tbn, Euph, Tuba
