RED MOON ELISIONS for Concert Band- Grade 6. RED MOON ELISIONS is a concert piece with two contrasting sections. The majority of the band’s Grade Level is a 4-6. The percussion section is extended and includes the non-standard instruments Lasso d’Amore and BB Swirl. The timpani part could be considered a Grade 7. The themes of the two sections are based on the same material but are completely different settings. The primary theme is bitonal using complementary harmonies. Dynamics play an important role in that there are some sections where the entire band is playing a pianoissimo. Special care should be given to these sections. There is also a percussion and piano version of this piece.
