Red Rhythm (SATB) pulls the listener in with its driving beat that constantly shifts and intrigues, in a red mood. This is the second movement of Three-Note Suite in Three Colors. Each movement is built on a three-note ascending pattern, describing a different mood and color. This piece can be played alone, with or without the other movements, which are Purple Melody and Yellow Jazz. Other sax quartets by this composer: Minor Disturbance, That Lazy Day and What Might Have Been. To see what Paul Abbott can do with a Big Band, check out All Over the Place and The Dancing Plumber.
