Arthur: King! is a one-act ballet in six scenes based on the legends of King Arthur. The score was written in 1979 by Richard E Brown, and the ballet premiered in 1981 with the Austin Ballet Theatre.
Royal Court Dances is the composer’s 2026 transcription for concert band of three scenes from his orchestral score to that ballet.
Full instrumentation, including 2 oboes and 2 bassoons, is necessary to perform this work, as there are no cross-cues in other parts.
