Jim Paterson plays a variety of instruments though his greatest experience is with keyboards, starting Piano Lessons at the age of 7 and eventually passing Grade 8 with Distinction. At school he learned the clarinet and played in the school ensemble and solo at a few events, and he also plays recorder and guitar (though badly).
As a teenager he held a variety of posts as pianist, organist or accompanist for churches, choirs, clubs, concerts and shows. With this background providing music for occasions and ceremonies, it is natural that his interests should lie with Classical and Film music, and inevitable that he should be interested in composition.
In 2000 he started the mfiles web-site www.mfiles.co.uk devoted to Classical and Film music, while continuing to compose music, and this has now become a business called Music Files Ltd providing a variety of commercial music services.
The first live public performance of "Circus Ride" and "Sword and Sorcery" were given by the Chamber Orchestra of Southern Maryland in a family concert in April 2002, while other pieces have since been performed or played in schools.
For several years Jim composed music for a large number of mobile games, and more details of this can be found at his IMDB resume - see www.imdb.me/jimpaterson
Jim is available for commissions - new music and arrangements. Email me to discuss.
