Studied at the Royal College of Music, London (1973-76). Won the 'Cobbett and Hurlstone Prize' for chamber music composition. Held two resident string quartet positions. Founder member of the Menuhin Foundation of Bermuda. Joined the Halle Orchestra (1979). Defected to the BBC National Orchestra of Wales (1983) - left the BBC in 2007, and is now concentrating mainly on chamber music. Formed a viola quartet called 'ABSOLUTE ZERO' (honestly) in 1995 - still going strong. The quartet has hosted a number of massed viola workshops - amazing fun! A varied selection of our work has now been recorded on a unique CD, click on the 'Absolute Zero Viola Quartet' Web link if you'd like to learn more. Much of our original viola quartet repertoire is available here on the Score Exchange site - do take a look, plenty of it is free, and they are not all as hard as they seem. If you are interested in viola quartets I'd be fascinated to hear from you.
