As a late beginner on the violin I became acquainted with these Elgar pieces in 1st position. As my teacher was not a pianist I decided to write violin accompaniments to these pieces so that we could play them together as a duet. An intriguing aspect of this task was working out the harmonies Elgar had in mind.
