GALOPINS begin life as a light-hearted piece for Violin and Pianoforte written for my two friends, Tony Burrage (Fiddler) and John Peace (Strummer). I thought an orchestral arrangement would be equally effective in its own way. Galopins means, 'rascals' or 'urchins'. Or, preferably, 'scallywags'.
