Three tunes are used. The first is 'Croppies Lie Down'; Borrow in 'Wild Wales', has long discussion with an Irish fiddler about this tune. The second tune is 'Rodney's Glory' named after an admiral who made a lot of prize money for himself and his crews. The third tune was collected from a singer in the workhouse at Petersfield in Hampshire in 1902 and is an aweful warning to sailors about their wives when they are away at sea.I used it because it sounded Irish. The first two tunes come from collections made in America.
