Bruckner's landlord, former student Dr. Anton Oelzelt, give him a large price break on an excellent 4th floor apartment in 1877. This freed him from working overtime to give lessons and allowed him to spend more time composing. In gratitude, Bruckner dedicated his 6th symphony to Dr. Oelzelt. Both the 6th symphony and the String Quintet exude a new level of optimism and confidence.
