Galloping Dean (Incent Sketch No 1): this refers to a sixteenth-century Dean of St Paul's Cathedral who founded an educational establishment in Hertfordshire. Alledgedly he was an energetic and worldly man, hence the tempo, dissonance and hint of renaissance music.
