This piece is the brainchild of an inspiration of one of my friends in music: Jazmyn. She plays the clarinet, and she is an incredible musician (or else she wouldn’t have made the top All-State band in Alabama two years straight). In class, she’d always get into trouble for rushing the tempo, which inspired me to set the tempo at allegro vivace (about 150 beats per minute in this case). She is very dextrous on the clarinet and plays sixteenth note passages with transient ease, thus inspiring me with the ascending and descending runs here and there. The piece should be played in a comical and joyful way so as to make the notes on the page become music to the ears.
