The integration of the popular British tune "Anacreon in Heaven" and the famous words of lawyer Francis Scott Key formed what is today known as the U.S. national anthem: "The Star-Spangled Banner." Key wrote the profound poem "Defense at Fort McHenry" after the formidable British Navy’s bombardment of the fort on the Chesapeake Bay during the War of 1812. He wrote of the valor displayed by American troops and the resiliency of the ever-waving flag. "The Star-Spangled Banner" was officially declared to be the U.S. national anthem in 1931 and has been the anthem ever since. This arrangement is a little different from typical arrangements and has an augmented ending that I believe you’ll enjoy.
