Having completed a course in Orff Schulwerk, I have come to enjoy making sounds using the body. This piece takes the simple sounds used in the Orff canon to construct a two part texture which experiments with three basic ideas (Figures A, B and C). The piece should be performed in the manner it was written - joyful abandonment in it's making rather than being a dry academic performance.
This piece is intended for performance by two performers, or groups of performers using body percussion sounds (stamps, claps, tight pats, chest thumps and vocal shouts). It can also be performed as a percussion piece as long as there are differences between the different types of sound (i.e the pats, claps and thumps) with subtle pitch differences between the left and right versions of these. The Huh! should always be shouted. The placing of these performers is at the discretion of the musical director, but the idea is for the audience to see the contrast between the parts.
