He was born in Szczecin on 17 March 1960 and left the F Nowowiejski State Secondary School of Music in Szczecin in 1980. He studied composition under Prof. Florian Dąbrowski at the LJ. Paderewski Academy of Music, Poznań, graduating in 1985. In 1990-1996 Vice-Dean, and in 1996-2002 Dean of the Faculty of Composition, Conducting and Music Theory. Between 1992 and 1999 he was the President of the Poznań branch on the Socjety of Polish Composers and Director of the "Poznańska Wiosna Muzyczna" (Poznań Musical Spring) International Festiwal of Contemporary Music (als since 2007). He is currently a member of the Board of the Polish Composers' Union. In the years 2002 - 2004 was a member of the Jury Prize Art of Poznań. At the University of Arts in Poznan leads Film Music Faculty in the Animation Department . His compositions have won mapy prizes: 1985 ¬recognition award in the Socjety of Polish Composers' Competition for his piece for the organ, Kamień Pomorski; 1986 - recognition in the XXllnd edition of the Society's Young Composers Competition; 1987 recognition award in the same Society's annuat Competition for his work for organs and two other instruments; 1987 Ilnd prize (Ist prize not awarded) in the "Do-Re-Mi `87" Competition of Contemporary Art. for Children and Young People; 1988 - Ist prize (Symphony category) and recognition (Chamber category) in the XXIIIrd G. Fitelberg National Composing Competition in Katowice; 1990 - recognition award in the IInd R. Bukowski Competition, Wroctaw; 1996 - IIIrd prize (Ist and IInd prizes were not awarded) for his piece in the Polskie Radio S.A. Competition.
