Darron has studied with Trevor Tomkins; Percussion teacher at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music, learning Jazz and Latin music, Alan Savage drummer with Des O’ Conner and session musician in West End Musicals, studying theatre pit work and contemporary drumming. Also Roberta Plas and Robin Jones two of Britain’s leading Latin musicians. More recently Mal Garret and the late Jim Chapin who was one of America’s top percussion educationalists.

He has performed aboard cruise ships such as the QE2, and for Cyprus Sea Cruises he was bandleader for international cabaret floor shows. As a backing musician he has been at the Derngate Theatre, Northampton, working in Pantomime with stars such as Zoe Ball, at the Royal Theatre, Northampton, in the musical ‘A Slice of Saturday Night’, and the Winter Gardens, Bournemouth, performing a tribute to Glen Miller with the Memphis Belle Big Band. He spent four years in Jersey, backing a cabaret floor show and has been a backing musician for cabaret acts at Caesar’s International Restaurant at Torrevieja inSpain.

In Classical music he has worked with the Rutland Sinfonia, Newtown Linford Choral Society and Bedford Choral Society, performing works by Elgar,Tchaikovsky and Rossini etc. as well as Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. He has played at the National Brass Band contest at the Royal Albert Hall for two consecutive years, also performing with championship band Nassington.

He is a percussion teacher at Leicester Grammar School, Kibworth High School and at Robert Smyth School, teaching pupils orchestral percussion instruments as well as the contemporary drum kit. Former pupils who have gone onto successful careers include Josh Devine; Winner of Mapex Drummer of Tomorrow and currently the drummer with ‘One Direction’. Ben Cullingworth who playing the part of Ringo in The Beatles London West End Musical ‘Let it Be’. Steven Price who performed as one of the drummers at the 2012 Olympics who recently finished his studies at The Academy of Contempory Music.
