Glynn Jenkins studied music at Exeter University (BA 1983, PhD 1988) and then spent a further year at Durham University before beginning his teaching career at Harrow School.Since then, he has led Music Departments in Somerset and Scotland; currently, he is Director of Music at Gordonstoun School. He writes music for his pupils and for the small but enthusiastic choir of St James Catholic Church in St Andrews, Fife. Outside of teaching, he has been a Major in the Territorial Army, a writer of detective novels, and an obsessive chess player.
