The 11-note theme, announced immediately and comprising 3 4-note motifs provides all the material for the whole, including a contrasting descending scalewise theme in an antipodal key first occurring at a climax a third of the way through at letter E. Earlier, immediately after the main theme's first statement, the music develops its final motif’s upward leap of a 4th successively through the voices to a 5th answered by a 6th and a 7th. That treatment returns near the end at letter K with the 1st. Sopranos’ climactic leap of a 9th to a top A sharp. But that passage ends quietly in E, then a semitonal key and emotional uplift to the home F for a coda finishing with the whole theme chasing itself in canon.
