The opening suggests the mystery of the beginning of time "e're the worlds began to be". Each subsequent section depicts a stanza of the text as found in the Hymnal 1982 (Episcopal).
I just uploaded the mp3 from my recital in June – the world premiere –this piece would also make an interesting prelude for a Christmas Eve or Lessons and Carols service.
