This is a stand-alone solo piano work created in a lean towards minimalism. It is a stand alone piece but is somewhat of a sister piece to ’Nebulae’ which was written first. Where Nebulae has a brightness and almost aloofness to it, Phantom had a darkness and a brooding sound indicative of its title.
The piece opens fairly gently but soon descends into a more marked and discordant setting. With some very interesting melodies and harmonies, this piece may serve as an interesting encore piece, or just something moderate to learn.
