original one step higher. The original piano version gives metronome indication of 100, which seems way too fast for a funeral march. Written on the occasion of the death of Kaiser Wilhelm I in 1888. Note quotes from "See the Conquering Hero Comes" from Handel's Judas Maccabeus (horns from measure 19, basses at 69 ). I suspect there is another quote (measures 44-45 in 1st trombone and fluegel); any help identifying it appreciated. If short-handed, the snare drum part may be omitted.
