This arrangement is a transcription of the piano part of my 2017 combo recording of the country gospel favorite, "Just a Closer Walk with Thee." I have added some additional left-hand rhythm notes not in the recording to make the piece more suitable as a stand-alone piano solo.
Recorded by a who's who of artists over the years, jazz renditions of the song are also staples of New Orleans jazz funerals. The composer and lyricist are unknown; the song apparently dates back to the 1800s in one form or another.
The arrangement is notated with metric modulation "swing eighths" indicated, meaning that eight note pairs are played as if they were written as a quarter note - eighth note triplet. Be especially sure not to rush these and other triplets in the song, and keep a steady beat throughout.
