All of the pieces owe much to the traditional form in the title but are not slavishly linked to it. The middle section is an inversion of the first theme, not something that would be heard in a traditional jig! Incidentally, the Black Spout is the name of a spectacular waterfall near Pitlochry in Perthshire.
