This meditative piece is included on my CD "Look In," with oboist Judy Dansker. It is based on a repeating chord cycle of five measures in length, in rubato style. After playing the theme, repeat with variations and improvistions as desired, and return to a stylized version of the theme at the end. Ideally, the time of the measures and the feeling of harmonic rhythm should lengthen as the piece progresses, so that the impression becomes more and more modal.
