This splendid piece for double choir by Philippe de Monte is known only from a single manuscript, Mus. MS 40028 of the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin. This is one of two large choirbooks in score written chiefly by Adam Gumpelzhaimer, and the motet is in his hand. The text, that of Psalm 150, is indicated only below the Bassus of each choir and is here entirely editorial. The piece was first printed in the earlier Complete Edition (van den Borren/Doorslaer 1927-39) where a number of minor errors were transmitted. These have been corrected in this edition, prepared directly from the manuscript by kind permission of the Music Department, Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin.
