Banish Those Blues is written in 5 parts for Flexible Band - ie the parts can be spread amongst any set of players available, making it ideal for beginner school ensembles. It works for Brass groups, Woodwind groups, or String groups. There is an optional Drum Set part and also an optional Bass Guitar part. This piece is written with the very young ensemble in mind, and as such the individual parts are all kept within a manageable range and key.
It is a fun and entertaining concert piece in the Blues style. Based around the 12-bar blues, and using the Blues scale, this piece could be used in the Concert Hall or as part of a teaching program. It features a section allowing each part to have their own solo!
