"Dedicated to the One I Love" was a song written by Lowman Pauling and Ralph Bass which was a hit for the "5" Royales, the Shirelles and the Mamas & the Papas in the late 1950's and early1960's. My piece initially quotes a short identifiable phrase from this song and then proceeds quite independently of the song only to bring back another identifiable phrase from the song at the end. There is a bluesy, sweetly expressive, melancholic atmosphere about the music that suggests film noir sound tracks.
