African Madrigal was written as a companion piece to my African Alphabet. It starts in the style of an early English madrigal and aims to transform seamlessly into a kind of modern a capella african inspired song. The style of singing should reflect this change. It reverts back to English, but the final cadence must be African! The traditional nonsense words Fa la la provide the linguistc link with the african 'words', but make them sound authentic and ethnic. My choir loved doing this piece.
