Begun as a version for piano in Jerusalem on 29 December 1994 with additions from a sketch for a Symphonic Movement in F minor from Mexico of 2 April 1966 with the attempt to create a counterpart to Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E minor titled "From the New World."
I would like the Painting "Russian Village" by Isaac Ilyitch Levitan (1860-1900), Israel Museum, Jerusalem, as a title page for this work when published.
Since the piano used for writing this work was somewhat out of tune, that is, half a tone lower than normal, I must have heard it in A minor but wrote it in Bb minor. I add a transposition to A minor in order to confirm this fact.
