It’s eight movements represent each of the eight regions of the large Spanish Province. The first movement is Granada. The symphony is not intended to be a travelogue. It is personal impression created by the scenery and the people, but there are occasional flashes of Spanish influence to be found, and this is the only one of my 41 symphonies to include a guitar in its instrumentation.
