Joseph Bodin de Boismortier (1689-1755) was a French baroque composer. He wrote many sonatas for several instruments without basso continuo. This piece is one of nine petit sonatas Op.66 which was originally written for two cellos or two bassoons or two violes. These short pieces of Op.66 are all simple and technically easy, but beautiful and lovely. It consists of four movements as follows. 1. Gracieusement, 2. Moderement, 3. Gaiment, 4. Tambourin I/II.
