Three Rounds for Strings
I used these at concerts for parents, varying the dynamics (omitted from the score and parts) at will, just to show parents how cleverly their offspring followed the stick. The insertion of a piece in D, between the two G major pieces, concentrated the players' minds wonderfully and the slower tempo in this little 3-bar-phrased tune gave time to concentrate on the 'High 3/ 'High 4' on the G string. The '4 and 20 Blackbirds' bowing in Frere Jacques, of course, pleased all who came from the Suzuki programme….parents as well as children!
