The Elizabethan actor William Kemp danced from London to Norwich, in nine days, in 1599 to this tune (depicted above!). Possibly it was composed by John Dowland, but no one knows for sure. There are many versions of this tune. This one is just how I play it on the tin whistle!
Spilt Whiskey / Suo Gan is a traditional Welsh (or scottish) lullaby written by an anonymous composer. Though the lyrics are comforting and warm, the beautiful melody has a distinctly haunting quality.
The song’s title simply means lullaby. (suo = lull; gan = song).
