Mr. Al Davis is a Keyboard Artist, Composer, and Producer,

Al Davis has been composing, arranging, producing, and performing contemporary and traditional religious music for more than twenty years in the metropolitan Washington D.C. area. He has performed live and on recordings with nationally renowned artists and esteemed local choirs, and has written more than three hundred vocal and instrumental pieces.

Davis' first project for a national record label came in 1989 when Wajii Records chose him to write arrangements for and perform on an album by The Five Blind Boys of Alabama, featuring the legendary Clarence Fountain. Another album and two live performances with the group followed in 1990. Davis' exceptional musicianship led to his working with three other Wajii artists.

In the fall of 1989, just prior to his work with Wajii, Davis' own Njideka label released “Soul Food,” an album featuring the Inspirational Choir of Washington's world-famous Bibleway Temple. Davis was principle pianist and band director for the group and performed all keyboard parts on the album. He also composed and orchestrated the score for nine out of the ten songs.

A highlight of Davis' career was participating as a performer and researcher in the Smithsonian Institution's major exhibit "Seeds of Change" in 1991 and 1992. Davis was the featured musician in the segment titled “The Influence of African-American Music, Slavery to Present,” which chronicled the creation of jazz, blues, gospel, and spirituals, and their influence on classical, popular, folk, and other mainstream American music styles.

Mr. Davis studied classical and jazz piano at Washington’s Dunbar High School under the late George White, famed bandleader of the Washington Redskins marching band, and studied privately at George Washington University. He later studied and collaborated with one of gospel music's most revered scholars, Dr. Pearl Williams Jones. He co-produced a CD for New Horizon Records by young television and film actress Raven Symone.

The most recent highlight of Davis’ career was the release of "Hymns Of The Church: The Cross!" on the Njideka Music label. What a blessing to bring such a gift to God’s people. It is a compilation of the songs, which are the foundation of our faith, our salvation through the Cross. Mr. Davis’ interpretation is breathtaking and will capture your spirit. God’s anointing on this minister of music is extraordinary and his love of God and dedication to God’s plan for his life is evidenced in every melody and message of his music

Mr. Davis is presently the Minister of Music at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in SE Washington DC, where the spirit of the Lord is alive and flourishing, through the preached word and the ministry of the Word through song.
