Jonathan Harvey is one of those rare multi-skilled talented musicians who not only can play several instruments, but also a trained educator, sound engineer, conductor and composer. Starting musical life completing the Yamaha Music Foundations Junior Music Course, Jonathan has been playing piano for over 40 years.
After completing his Bachelor of Music majoring in Composition, he has completed a Graduate Diploma in Music Technology and a Master of Arts in Musicology, with the thesis topic: “Collits’ Inn: The first successful All-Australian Musical Comedy”.
For over 25 years Jonathan has accompanied hundreds of students and professionals, from AMEB and VCE examinations, to auditions and professional performances all over Melbourne, country Victoria, interstate and overseas. Jonathan has performed jazz piano in restaurants and venues and performing in jazz/rock/blues bands for well over 20 years.
Other than accompanying experience, Jonathan is an experienced orchestral musician performing with the Victorian Concert Orchestra, Whitehorse Symphony Orchestra, and is well known as a tutor of percussion at the Harrietville Music Camp and Melbourne Youth Music’s Summer Music Camp.
