Lev 'Ljova' Zhurbin was born in Moscow, Russia, and lives in New York City. The son of famed Russian composer Alexander Zhurbin and poet Irena Ginzburg, Lev is a graduate of the Juilliard School where he studied viola with Samuel Rhodes (of the Juilliard String Quartet). Since 2003, Lev has been arranging a wide-ranging body of music for Yo-Yo Ma, the Silk Road Project, The Kronos Quartet and others. In additon to this, he's currently composing music for film projects, as well as pieces in the jazz/gypsy/latin and experimental genres. ("DOING THIS ALL AT ONCE KEEPS ME SANE", he says.)
