I am a freelance composer and arranger based near Tunbridge Wells in Kent, England.
At Sheffield University, I won the Philip John Lord prize for composition. My music at this time used techniques from serialism, minimalism and theatre music. Over the last fifteen years, I have been trying to develop a musical language that is more familiar to students and amateurs. I have therefore adapted my serial tendencies and leant more heavily on minimalist features and tonal centres.
The majority of my composing and arranging is for choirs that I conduct, but I also produce a few pieces for orchestra, big band and brass band, usually for specific performances.
