This renaissance lute song has an extremely interesting dance-like meter. Originally, the tablature is writen in 2/2 and shows "bars" in the wrong places. My edition breaks each phrase into two bars each of 9/8. Since the rhythm is rather irregular, there is no regular dominant pulse. Instead, emphasis should given to the natural inflection of the text. I have used beaming to emphasize natural rhythmic groupings.
