In The Garden, (Vocal performance contributed by the sanctuary choir at the 1st Methodist Church of Urbana (Illinois)) and its companion tableaux #5, With A Kiss, illuminates Jesus’ betrayal in the garden at Gethsemane. While the solo is marked, soprano, it can easily be performed by a tenor.
If the praise ensemble’s guitarist is adept at playing slide style I have found that such an addition works very well in this particular tableaux. The slide articulation adds an edginess to the piece that elevates the emotion. The guitarist should improvise this part taking care as to NOT "step on" the singer . . . it is acceptable to let the notes ring out over the voice. Taste as in all matters should get the utmost consideration if a slide guitar is used.
The included drum kit part is rudimentary. The drummer should feel free to improvise his part so long as it does not get overly busy.
