Scott Joplin's ragtime pieces don't readily adapt to being played on the organ. However, his 'New Rag' adapts quite well with its Bach like semiquaver passages. This arrangement sounds best when played with just a few light toned stops (e.g. using 8 flute in place of 8 diapason in stop ensembles, as indicated in the suggested registration) and articulated in a detached style. It is a fun piece to play as an encore at the end of a recital.
