Jazz Contrasts was commissioned by the Soloists Ensemble for its conductor Robert Turrell and premiered in Gloucester Cathedral in may 2000. It is energetic, catchy and rhythmic with a variety of stylish turns and ends in a rousing flourish. It was performed at the Royal Academy of Music in June 2002
