The sonatina has three movements: fast, slow, fast. The pugnacious first movement is essentially a three part invention, and indeed the style is extremely contrapuntal throughout (worth noting is that the development sections of the outer movements are fugues). The slow movement is a mysterious exploration, leading on to the more light-hearted finale.
