Monteverdi would have expected his high instruments (perhaps cornetti) to ornament their lines from measures 35 and 70. I’ve written in some suggestions in the latter section. Note also the voice-crossing, which is in the original. I have also written out the hemiolas, where you see the 6/4 bars. I don’t mean to insult anyone–just to get everyone "on the same sheet of music."
