This is a transcription of two chorales from Bach's St John Passion for brass quartet, with options for each part in Bb and Eb.

"Thy bonds, O Christ, have set us free" is a counting challenge in the third phrase, with syncopation and cross-rhythms in the middle parts.

"Within our inmost being" is most famous as the tune to the hymn "All glory, laud and honour". Bach's parts are majestic, particularly in the bass line. The chorale presents an intonation challenge, as in the third the group needs to diminuendo from forte to mezzo forte, then all the way down to piano, while maintaining intonation.
